Mayor Hermanek (elected in 2013 as Mayor) and Trustee Mengoni (elected in 2013 as Trustee) adopted a deficit of:

In 2014, Former Trustee and current North Riverside United Party Candidate for Trustee, Jason Bianco (appointed as Trustee and elected as a VIP Candidate) had voted along with his party coffers to BUST the Fire Fighters Union. The deficit at the end of fiscal year 2015 had grown to over:

They had all run under the VIP Party. Including Trustee Flores and Trustee Sarro who were elected in 2017 and voted towards budgets that included Village Attorneys who broke off negotiations with the Fire Fighters Union and continued legal recourse to BUST the Union in Illinois Appellate Court & Illinois State Supreme Court. Deficit has grown to:

In 2019, the VIP/North Riverside United Party attempted to legitimize their feeble efforts to BUST the Union and tried save face by entering back into negotiations with the Fire Fighters Union. The Village has essentially lost over 24 times in various courts and their efforts to yet again, BUST the Union! Deficit has now grown to:

Union Busting
Former VIP Mayoral Candidate (& current Independent Candidate) for Mayor Hubert Hermanek along with his former VIP/United Party Cohorts, Trustee Joe Mengoni (Candidate for Mayor under the North Riverside United Party) and Former VIP Trustee/Current Trustee Candidate for Trustee under the North Riverside United Party) had all led, sanctioned and voted upon:

Mayor Hermanek, Trustee Mengoni & former Trustee/Current North Riverside United Party Candidate Jason Bianco voted to absolve and destroy the Firefighters Union.
Trustees Fernando Flores & Trustee Terri Sarro voted on budgets to continuously fund Village Attorney Fees that specifically focused on the litigation to bust the Firefighters Union!
They Blame Trustee Mandel & Trustee Demopoulos for Village Employees wanting to Unionize. Blaming her for asking the Administration and the Village Board to cut 10% off of the 2021-2022 Budget.
1) How does cutting 10% off the future budget equate to slashing Jobs & Salaries???
2) During the Budget Workshop Meeting last year, the Interim Village Administrator/Finance Director cut approximately $900,000 (over 4% of the entire budget) in the last 15 minutes of the Budget Workshop Meeting!
3) Trustee Mandel & Trustee Demopoulos (along with the People Before Politics Party) are Pro Union!
4) The VIP/North Riverside United Party/Independent Wannabe Mayoral Candidate have ALL voted against the Union.
5) They have spent $$Millions$$ of OUR tax dollars to stop the Union! Will they once more, attempt to bust any other Unions in the Village?

Why Are They Running & Hiding ???
Curious North Riversiders want to know. If you were proud of your record and your legacy after Four Decades in Power, why would you change your name??? Apparently, the bungling politicos of the old VIP (Voters Improvement Party) do not want to take their chances at the polls on April 6th. The Illinois State Board Of Elections has verified that the supposed “NEW PARTY” organized as the North Riverside United Party involves the same VIP Party operatives, and it banked ALL of the political campaign funds (over $11,000) from the OLD VIP. While political foes have suggested many reasons for the name change; the public records obtained by the NORTH RIVERSIDE NEWS illustrate the absolute abysmal public record of malfeasance and mismanagement that is the legacy of the VIP Party; now known as The North Riverside United Party.

It clearly violates Village Ordinance 2.26.010
Under Title 2, Chapter 2, Subsection 26.010 (Ordinance 07-O-13 § 1 2007)

2.26.010 - Creation.

There is created the position of director of finance for the village. The director of finance shall be employed by the village president and board of trustees on the basis of ability and without consideration of race, politics or religious beliefs. The director shall be the chief financial officer of the village and shall report to the village administrator. The director may also serve as the village treasurer and hold other offices; provided, however, the director shall not receive compensation for any other office other than director of finance.
